Clickers in the Classroom
This is the beginning in an examination of the use of clickers, i.e., student response systems on campus.
For those of you who missed Professor Fred Marschak’s clicker demo in mid-September, here’s a
link to Fred’s demo in flash video form. Note, as it turned out, we didn’t edit the movie so it appears here in its full length of 39 minutes. You can, however, scrub through the movie to skip ahead or review any of the movie. You’ll also need a high-speed internet connection in order to view the movie.
In the coming weeks, Mark will be presenting some basic findings re the use of clickers at SBCC as well as other campuses so that the College can begin its deliberation about a “standard” clicker for large lecture halls on campus. Anyway, many thanks to Fred for making this available.
In the fall of 2007, Mark Ferrer and I did some research into the value of using clickers in the classroom. Here’s our review and recommendation based on faculty input.
