Faculty Resource
Center Proseminars
The Faculty
Resource Center is only one of a number of departments or committees
that offer training in instructional strategies. For example, some
departments use professional development days in order to complete
discipline-specific training. With respect to training in instructional
strategies, the FRC hosts a number of pro-seminars
during the year and, if requested, it can meet with faculty members
as part of the teaching consultation process. The FRC is also a
major contributor in leading Flex workshops during the academic
year.
Faculty
Professional Development Committee (FPD)
Among other
things, the Faculty Enrichment Committee (FEC) is responsible
for
planning Flex workshops during the academic year. The FEC plans
a rather extensive set of training workshops for faculty, some
of
which are focused on instructional strategies. Contact Dr.Dixie
Budke, FPD chair, for more information.
Teaching
& Learning Committee (TLC)
Probably, the
committee most focused on discussing issues of teaching and learning
is the Teaching and Learning committee. This committee has a web
site dedicated to these issues as well as a web
database of faculty teaching tips submitted by members of the
committee and other faculty and staff on campus.
Faculty Teaching
& Learning Seminar
Another option
for instructional strategy traniing is the Faculty and Teaching
Seminar hosted by Marilynn Spaventa,
Dean of Educational Programs. This a series of lectures
and hands-on activities geared at introducing new contract faculty
to the workings of the college as well as introducing them to generic
instructional strategies that they can use in the classroom.
