Regional Entry Points are the primary entry point for Coordinated Entry. These entry points are resource centers where individuals and families experiencing homelessness can get help finding housing and other resources.

New Beginnings’ Safe Parking Shelter and Rapid Rehousing Program provides safe overnight parking to individuals and families living in their vehicle. A driver’s license, vehicle registration, and vehicle insurance is required to enroll in the shelter component of the program. In addition, we also offer rapid rehousing services and other housing assistance services to community members through the program.

Contact staff of our Safe Parking Program by calling (805) 845-8492 or email us at safeparking@sbnbcc.org. Current proof of a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance is required to enroll in the program. If you are living in your vehicle and are interested in rapid re-housing services, please contact us as well.

Across the state, PATH helps people find permanent housing and provides case management, medical and mental healthcare, benefits advocacy, employment training, and other services to help them maintain their homes stably. Since 2013, they have connected more than 9,000 people to permanent homes.

In Santa Barbara, they provide a variety of services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness that includes employment, outreach, housing navigation, interim housing, and rapid re-housing.

PATH Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara Rescue Mission was founded in 1965 and has been helping the homeless and addicted in our community for over 50 years. Each year, The Rescue Mission will serve 140,000 meals, provide safe shelter to 200 men and women each night, and graduate over 30 people from its 12-month Residential Recovery Program for men and women desiring to break free from cycles of addiction, poverty, homelessness, and crime.

 

Supportive Housing Resources

The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara assists those individuals in housing while in a time of need; working families, seniors on fixed incomes, and persons with disabilities. The housing programs they currently have to help members of the community are as follows:

People's Self-Help Housing supports low income families, farm workers, seniors, and veterans and provide welcoming environments for those living with disabilities and for the formerly homeless. While also having services to promote health, well-being, and career success.

IMPORTANT

Santa Ynez Valley People Helping People in Santa Ynez reach from the Santa Ynez Valley to Los Alamos. Their service staff is working with clients over the phone at this time but they are still providing their services. They have food, emergency programs that may help pay rent or bills and more.

Local and Community Utility Resources

The California LifeLine Program (California LifeLine) is a state program that provides discounted home phone and cell phone services to eligible households. The California LifeLine discounts help consumers lower the cost of their phone bills. Only one discount per household is allowed (except for teletypewriter users and for Deaf and Disabled Telecommunications Program participants). Each household must choose to get the discount either on a home phone or on a cell phone, but not on both. Check out the Types of Discounted Services Available to learn about the program's benefits.

CA Lifeline Application

The CommUnify Santa Barbara Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) can help those in financial need prevent service interruption or restore disconnected utility services. LIHEAP can also help families that just want to get ahead on their bills to free up funds for other living needs. Assistance payments are provided for gas, electric, oil, wood or propane services. Intake centers are located throughout the county for easy access and assistance, if needed.

The Santa Barbara Region of Catholic Charities covers Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

The Santa Barbara County area of Catholic Charities serves communities that include Cuyama Valley, Carpenteria , Guadalupe, Lompoc, Santa Maria and Santa Barbara. Since 1924, the Region has been providing hunger and homeless prevention services for low-income families and individuals throughout the communities of Santa Barbara County. The Region has three food pantries and several food distribution sites.

Other services offered include case management, financial assistance, material services and individual and family counseling services. They also offer utility payment assistance; call one of their locations using the information below to speak with a representative.

SCE understands that many customers continue to struggle financially, and that sometimes other expenses must come first. Their Family Electric Rate Assistance(FERA) and California Alternate Rates for Energy(CARE) financial assistance programs help qualifying families of all sizes lower their monthly energy bills when they need it most.

Both FERA and CARE provide significant discounts to customers who qualify for bill assistance based on their household size and income. A single application takes two minutes to complete. No additional documentation is required.

Ride the bus free with your SBCC ID

Santa Barbara MTD is our local public bus service. 
All SBCC students pay a transportation fee with tuition which provides a bus pass that is valid for travel throughout the school term.

The Bureau of Automotive Repair’s (BAR) Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) offers eligible consumers repair assistance and vehicle retirement options to help improve California's air quality. Learn more at the link

Repair Assistance

Eligible consumers may receive up to $1,200 in emissions-related repairs at a STAR test-and-repair station if their vehicle fails its biennial Smog Check inspection.
